The founder
Quazi Azher Ali accepted a salary of one taka per month so that a university built for students without means could survive its first years.
Late Quazi Azher Ali — Honours and Master’s (University of Dhaka), with further Master’s degrees from Cambridge and Harvard. Secretary to six ministries, Director of the Asian Development Bank, and Founder Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University from 2001 to 2009.
